Who we are

This policy explains how All Souls Church of Seattle, 7551 35th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126, handles information when you use this website, allsoulsseattle.org. It covers this website only. Giving and event registration happen on Church Center, under Church Center's own policy. Email [email protected] with questions. Please also read our Terms of Use.

What we collect and why

You do not need an account to use the site. This website does not ask for your name, does not take payment, and does not store a newsletter address.

Our host, Vercel, and our content network, Cloudflare, receive ordinary connection logs. A log can include your IP address, browser type, the page or file you request, and the date and time. We use these logs to operate the site and to limit abusive requests.

If you search sermons or field notes, we use the words you type to return results. We do not build a profile from searches. Those words can appear in the same connection logs as other requests.

We use Google Analytics and PostHog to measure how the site is used, to record a session replay of the pages you open, your clicks, and what was on the screen, and to record errors so we can fix them. We do not use this information for advertising. A replay or analytics record can include which pages you opened, including pages that link to crisis resources. We do not use that information to infer a health condition or to advertise.

For some features, such as loading events and book links, we briefly record an IP address with Upstash so we can limit abusive requests. Those records are short-lived.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not ask for health information.

Cookies

Google Analytics and PostHog use cookies or similar storage for measurement, session replay, and error diagnosis. These are not advertising cookies. YouTube and Buzzsprout can set their own cookies when a player loads. A thumbnail request can also be sent to YouTube or Vimeo. Refusing cookies does not block the site.

Newsletter signup is optional and happens on Mailchimp's page, not on this website. Mailchimp collects your email address there. We use that list only to send the newsletter. Each message has an unsubscribe link. Email [email protected] to ask us to remove your address. See Mailchimp's privacy policy.

Other sites

YouTube, Buzzsprout, and Vimeo may collect information when a player or thumbnail loads. Church Center handles giving and registration. See Planning Center's privacy policy. Book links can go to Amazon, Goodreads, Libby, or Audible. An Amazon link tells Amazon that you came from this site. Any other link has its own policy.

Children

This is a general-audience site. We do not ask children for personal information, and we do not knowingly subscribe a child under 13 to the newsletter. Analytics tools can still receive the same technical data as they do for any other visit. If you believe we have information from a child under 13, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

How long we keep information

We do not keep a separate file of website visitors. We keep connection logs, analytics, session replays, error reports, and rate-limit records only as long as we need them to operate and protect the site. Mailchimp keeps a newsletter address until the person unsubscribes or we remove it.

We use reasonable safeguards. We do not promise that storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Google, PostHog, Vercel, Cloudflare, Upstash, and Mailchimp process this information in the United States.

Your requests

Email [email protected] to ask what information we hold, or to ask us to correct or delete it. We may ask you to confirm that the request is yours. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes

When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If you keep using the site after that, the new policy applies.
